Hello,

I believe there is something wrong with FreeBSD-2.0 and ppp.
I have tried to use proxyarp without success, do You have any
clue what to do with it?. I'm running routed -s and installed the
pacth in if_ppp.c but without any luck.

All the PPP layers comes up like they should, the negotiation
of asyncmaps and IP numbers works but when Im about to use the link
it doesnt work! Nothing passes the link, the only thing i am able
to get is timeouts using it.

I ran tcpdump on ppp0 and it was quiet, there was no traffic over the
link! from tcpdumps point of view. Im not shure about this but I
recall something from earlier tests that the link works the first
time its being used after a reboot, well I have to verify this first
to be certain about it.

When I have made one of these unsuccesful calls the getty on that
port newer reaches the I status ( sorry dont know what it stands
for, maybe inactive), it shows up in top and should when first started
be sleeping, then running and at last get the "I" status. My getty
is alternating between sleeping and running, its consuming some time
on every run ( after a few ours a coupple of minutes has been consumed).
I cant get the getty to work properly without a reboot. I have tried
kill <every known signal in the universe> <pid> with no success.
It works normally again after the reboot and I have no problems
when running kermit.

My config:

	486DX/2-66
	16 Mram
	2 SMC Ultra Ether Cards
	2 16550

I start ppp as follows:

	log in to FreeBSD
	get my zsh
exec /usr/sbin/pppd modem proxyarp crtscts <my_ip_addr>:

Thats it folks, what should I do...

I will happily keep on testing whatever You come up with.

Please help I need PPP...
