Using pppd2.0.4 (stock on 1.1.5.1). A customer on WinNT is attempting to connect
with RAS' ppp and failing. He executes the pppd as follows:

pppd -ip crtscts netmask 255.255.255.0 -detach nebula:line1

In syslog, I see:

Jan 7 22:13:44 nebula login: DIALUP ttyd4, bbs
Jan  7 22:14:03 nebula pppd[5438]: pppd 2.0.4 started by bbs, uid 1003
Jan  7 22:14:03 nebula pppd[5438]: Connect: ppp1 <--> /dev/tty
Jan 7 22:14:09 nebula pppd[5438]: input: Unknown protocol (80fd) received!
Jan  7 22:14:15 nebula pppd[5438]: ioctl(PPPIOCSASYNCMAP): Input/output error
Jan  7 22:14:15 nebula pppd[5438]: fcntl(F_SETFL, fdflags): Input/output error
Jan  7 22:14:15 nebula pppd[5438]: ioctl(TIOCSETD): Input/output error
Jan  7 22:14:15 nebula pppd[5438]: tcsetattr: Input/output error

I am using Trumpet 2.0 on Windows 3.1 configured for PPP; it works just fine.
Does WinNT use a newer protocol or something???

TIA,
