Hi,

well this sounds much like a problem with SCSI Termination, if I recall
right , the termination on the adaptec1542cf is software controlled.
If you have internal disk(s) and an external tape , you should probably
switch off the controllers termination . Both ends of the bus should
then be terminated ( The Tape and the last internal disk ).
