I don't know why you're getting these errors -- are you compiling
sendmail from freebsd's srcdist?  i've recompiled it once, and i
didn't encounter this problem...

to turn the ident stuff off, edit sendmail/src/conf.h, and on line 995
(or so) change

# define IDENTPROTO	1

to

# define IDENTPROTO	0
