Hi Netland!
I am tinkering a little with INGRES89 on my 386BSD machine.
I picked up the distribution on GATEKEEPER and there are only two CPU
types in the Makefile (./source/conf/Makefile), namely SUN and VAX. I
put the dial on VAX and it ALMOST works. The compiler chews code a long
while until this piece of directive comes into view:

as -0 bmove.VAX.o bmove.VAX.s

You get an error 0 but the make continues down the code. I broke here but a
collegue had more patience (i.e. faster machine) and he found four or more
places where the compilers spits and sputter. But it is an ALMOST go! Now
wouldn't it be nice to have a 4GL language to this little babe?
Has anyone succeeded out there? If so, what has to be done?
