Ok I give, HELP

I have tried two or three diffrent distributions of BSD 2.0

All have the same problem on this machine:

Magitronic 386SX40 with and without Cyrix math co

256k No name VGA card
ne2000 clone and 3c509 Ethernet

and a cheapo Super Io card with 2 serial, Floppy , game, and IDE

THAT's IT.
250 Meg IDE drive.

OK: Now, the install goes great, I get my filesystems up and running, get
the cpio disk loaded and go to get my bindist from one of the ftp sites
(Very nice interface, BTW)

From here on out it gets very wierd.

ncftp complains about wrong type of passwd.... and never connects.
to anything.

If I drop to a shell, I have no prob getting connected to gatekeeper.dec.com,

put as soon as I try and do anything significant (Like cd or get)

I am no longer talking to the remote host, and my connection times out.

Tried to ftp to a sparc on my ethernet with same results, telnet is the same.

tried 3 diffrent ethernet cards, 2 diffrent I/o cards.
Might be the mother board, but it works fine for DOS/Windows, and LINUX.

sigh..... anybody got a clue?
