A separate kernel distribution is available from ftp.freebsd.org and
its mirrors. However, this does not seem to have made it onto the
CDROM.

I'm also suffering from limited disk space so I've copied just the
kernel sources to /usr/src/sys, and mounted my CD elsewhere with
symlinks under /usr/src.
