I'm running a UNIX shell clone on my Amiga... which has a default command
interpreter with fairly DCL-ish behaviour. Sure, you can do it... but since
most programs don't assume their output will be parsed by other programs
it's not nearly as useful as on UNIX.

Some things are synergistic when they're available from scratch... UNIX
I/O redirection is one of them.
