And if you want a solid operating system, buy VMS to run on it, best bets are
TGV's Multinet for TCPIP software and DEC's Pathworks or some 3rd parties
software to more easily serve all the DOS machines.

Disclaimer: some unices are better than others, VMS and Unix have different
strengths, there are some Unixes that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole
for production work, others that are quite solid (I am told, my hands-on 
experience with unix is minimal, though that is going to change, shudder)
