Yes, I suppose I should mention that I had a few responses to my post
suggesting I install CGD's com.c which I did and it managed to solve
the problem quite nicely... Even cylonled works in X now (X was never
idle previously so _idle was never called, consequently the LED's just
stayed still...)

Anyways, thanx for everyone's help... I suppose something like this should
go in the FAQ...
