I received the advice that compile and link the kernel with -DXSERVER.

The kernel from X-dist does not work ( for me ).

After making a new kernel... The xinit starts, i get two lines of text
and it just enters the binary nirvana.

The machine dont hang entirely. I can log in from my VAX with telnet
and kill the process, wherafter i have a core.X386 in $HOME... 

Any more hints?
