Yes, it is easy.. 
 

1) ftp to agate.berkely.edu find the emacs config stuff 
   (found in the 386bsd area).  
2) ftp to wuarchive.wustl.edu and get emacs-18.58.tar.Z 
   out of the gnu directory.  

3) follow the directions found in the README(?) file retrieved on
   step 1.  

   You may have to edit one .c file to #include<termios.h> because it
   looks for 'termio.h' which didn't seem to exist.
