I am using a WDC 31000ACH drive (1080MB) with a Promise Technologies caching
controller and am running MS-DOS, Windows, NT, and FreeBSD. There is a catch
though, FreeBSD as is, does not allow you to do this without risking the
integrity of the filesystems. I did create a fix for FreeBSD to use the
abilities of the controller, and all works fine w/o any risk. The problem is
that the installation is not easy as I didn't change any of the installation
routines and some things need to be done manually. I will supply the
FreeBSD development team with changes when I have some free time. Until then,
I don't recommend playing with the partition table unless you like playing
with fate. Make sure all the OS's running are using the same geometry.
