I've got a good offer on one of the Creative Labs' bundles that includes a
SoundBlaster-16 SCSI asp and the NEC 3Xi cdplayer.
Hope someone can answer a few of my questions regarding SB/FreeBSD-1.5.1

I know this scsi card is not supported by FreeBSD at the moment, but
how about the future. Anybody working on this ?

I believe the SB/SCSI card will work in 2.0 - someone has been hacking
out support for the AIC chip it uses. I don't have one of these
myself, so I can't test it, but you may be able to try booting one of
the very-soon-to-be-released 2.0 ALPHA boot floppies and see if you have
any joy.

Aside from SCSI, is the SoundBlaster-16 supported?

Yes. I *do* have one of those! :-)

I can move the cdrom to an existing adaptec 1542b. Can the two boards
be set up to coexist ?

Yes, they can indeed.

Any comments on the NEC 3X ? My requirements are true SCSI-2,
multisession photocd, XA, and at least double-speed.

I've heard it's a reasonable drive, though I'd hook it to a real SCSI
controller and not a sound card!
