You do need to make the distinction, however, between these fake
16550's and something like the Hayes ESP card, which is an excellent
thing to have.  Especially since you make claims about how you
wouldn't want the kernel to have that many queued up characters and
other nonsense.  The Hayes ESP card emulates a 16550, but has
1024-byte FIFO's.  It works extremely well, and was worth every dime I
payed for it on my NetBSD system.
