I decided to 'play' with my BSD 1.1.5.1 setup tonight and found by
changing one simple line in the 'ttys' file, somehow ALL of the
/dev/cua** devices somehow are no longer working. When I send
a command to /dev/cua00 (my 14.4.modem connection), the TR
lite comes on the modem but the BSD box is locked up tight.

I can't seem to figure out how in the world changing a line in
the ttys file can effect the /dev/ items but it must have as
the only file touched was 'ttys'.....so....

For all of you who are using BSD and use a com port to dial
OUT and establish a connection (with me it's a 14.4 24x7 ppp)
what is the magic command to PERMANENTLY set the settings
in the /dev/cuai00 or /dev/cua00 (I'm not sure which is used
to keep settings).

I issue the command "stty -f /dev/cuai00 57600" and the port
holds that command until I reboot. Once I reboot, the speed
is back to 9600 and all other settings have reset.

If there is a "standard" list of settings for a typical 14.4
modem connection with BSD, what would they be. I'm quite
certain my "stty -f /dev/cuai00" is not correct and that
is why my system is hanging up when I send a command to the
port.

Thanks a million for any advice, my system has been up for 41
days and tonight I had to play with it. Now it's down and
I just can't figure it out.
