Summary: modem won't work
Keywords: modem, FreeBSD

Hello,

I hope somebody can help me with my problem. I can't get my modem to
work under FreeBSD1.1.5. I does work under DOS though (on the same
machine).

The modem originally only supported COM1-4 and IRQ3-4. I did a little
soldering and now it is on IRQ5 and COM3. I have a mouse on COM1 (IRQ3)
and an intelligent terminal (XT) on COM2 (IRQ4). FreeBSD complains
during the boot procedure (taken from dmesg):

Probing for devices on the ISA bus:
sio0 at 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 on isa
sio0: type 16450
sio1 at 0x2f8-0x2ff irq 3 on isa
sio1: type 16550A
sio2 not found at 0x3e8

My mouse and terminal work, my modem doesn't. This is in my
/sys/i386/conf/<HOST> file:

controller	isa0

device sio0	at isa? port "IO_COM1" tty irq 4 vector siointr
device sio1	at isa? port "IO_COM2" tty irq 3 vector siointr
device sio2	at isa? port "IO_COM3" tty irq 5 vector siointr

DOS however reports my modem on COM3/IRQ5 and with Telix I can use it.
It's an internal 14k4 modem. This is some output from CheckIt:

                          CheckIt 3.0 Activity Log
