  Hello all,

I've been trying to install FreeBSD 1.1.5 on my system for a week
now with no luck. I've downloaded every FAQ I could find and now I'm at
my wits end.

The system:

  486DX2/66Mhz AST Bravo
16MB RAM, had 32MB but install fails, see problem #2
  1 Seagate SCSI-II 1.0 Gb Drive
  1 Maxtor SCSI-II 525Mb Drive
  Adaptec 1542C SCSI controller

I've partitioned the Seagate into 2 500Mb drives, 500 for DOS 5.0, 500 for
FreeBSD. Install of basic system goes OK. I go to install the binaries.
I get the 'panic' on reboot after installing them.

I later reinstall and check the bindist before I install, and it finds a
bad header. I can't find any good binaries on the net (I've tried gatekeeper,
tsx-11, archie.au), because this happens with each try.

So problem 1 is: Can anyone tell me how to get a good distribution I can
use, or is this 'panic' problem something else?

Problem 2: Install actually works with only 16Mb installed. I thought
1.1.5 was supposed to be ok with 32Mb of RAM and an Adaptec? Did I
miss something?

Problem 3: If anyone can help me get up and running, I'd like to use
multicast. Has anyone else done this that would like to give me some
lessons in installing it?

Problem 4: BSD gripes about no label on the Maxtor. I thought I saw how
to label in a FAQ but now I can't find it. Anyone know where that info is?
Can a non-BSD drive have a label? Can I install a 3rd OS and mount it as
well? (Such as NeXTStep, OS/2, etc)

I hope someone can help. I chose BSD over Linux because of the multicast
ability, I really would like to see it run.

Thanks in Advance,
Craig
