There shouldn't be any confusion.  FORGET about DOS!  This isn't DOS!
People who use DOS (including myself) have to know what DOS calls com
ports, and people who use UNIX (including myself) have to know what they
are called in UNIX.  The fact that both operating systems happen to run
on the same hardware is irrelevant!
