What does iozone (avail @ cdrom.com) tell you? It's a disk
benchmarker... Is there a difference in the time it takes to load the
kernel? Is your drive capable of handling the faster rate that EISA
can offer? My SCSI-2 disk will do over 2 megs/sec reads, I am sure.
But with my ISA 1542B card, I get 1.2Meg/sec reads and 700k/sec
writes. (with a Maxtor 540SL on a DX33 system) A friend with a 1742
& DX66 gets drastically better performance than me with the same
drive. Drastic means that I can *see* the differences in times to
compile, load X, etc.
