If you install DOS look for the cylinder count when being in fdisk.
My 643 MB Harddisk had the following values (tranlated geometry):
643 cylinder, 64 Heads, 32 sectors.
No idea which values are used if you have a 2 GB hd ... but I only
wanted to give you the tip to have a sharp eye when being in DOS's
fdisk. 

When partitioning the disk using fdisk you simply have to leave 
space free, FreeBSD detects and uses it later.

A nice program os-bs should be installed on the dos partition,
that recognizes DOS and BSD partitions and allows you to boot
either ...
