apologies for the corny subject line... late night...

i am having some challenge in making the tip/com port stuff work properly.
i am able to dial into my FreeBSD box, but i am unable to dial out. i have
worked through the FAQ for tip/cu, but to no avail. there seems to be
some discrepency between the FAQ and the most recent release of FreeBSD
(i have 1.1.5, i believe). specifically, the com port issue: should i
be utilizing "/dev/com?" or some other device for dial-out? i obviously
need to access my modem directly, as well.

hints and suggestions will be heartily appreciated!

regards,
--robert
