Well, if it's any help to you I experienced similar disk-error today for the first time and paniced but the hd still revolves and works. There's been no real trouble from it really because it was only this particular case but I guess I can expect to see more trouble in the future with my disk. I wonder if it's some kind of problem with the kernel's ide+driver?
