freebsd.cdrom.com is just an alias to wcarchive.cdrom.com which is a 
very, very busy ftp site. Not, I'd have to admit, because of FreeBSD but
because of what else is at that site.  I believe by far the most traffic
is due to OS/2 users getting the hobbes stuff. I think the current ftp
limit is 150 users and it's still hard to connect.

wcarchive.cdrom.com actually runs FreeBSD 1.1.5 (that's a rather shameless
plug :-)
