I am using XFree86 on 6 Gateway P5-90 computers. Below is the announcement
of the un-official port to the ATI Mach64. Though does not take agvantage of
the accelerate graphic features of the card, the resolution is good and the
speed is fast.

Hello! As the header said, I have a very-alpha version of an SVGA driver
for the Mach64. It works on my machine; that's all I can say at this point.
However, I'm a bit short on disk space, so when I compile it I have to leave
out a lot of font stuff and most of the extensions. Is there somebody out
there who has experience building XFree86 who would be willing to take my
new version of ati/driver.c and build it? Thanks!
If anybody is curious, here's what I found out about running the Mach64
in VGA mode:
It is _mostly_ compatible with older ATI cards. The BIOS data structures
are set up differently, and it has a new clock chip that confuses the 2.1.1
ATI driver. Once I fixed these problems the card just sort of worked.
Even though the card has 2MB of VRAM, the programmers guide says that
the VGA emulator can only use 1MB of this, so I can go up to 1152x900x256
but not all the way to 1280x1024x256. This is a shame, but there you are.
I'll probably put a tar with the source, my binary, and some documentation
on sunsite later today, but if you can recompile it let me know.
