I had to switch back from Slackware 2.0.0 with Linux Kernel 1.0.9
to FreeBSD 1.1.5.1 because I had severe trouble with smail, sendmail,
rtin (in conj. with inn). Things are changing too much. Large distribs
aren't tested well :-(

I'm again very happy with a stable working standard platform.
BTW: the FreeBSD 1.1 CD-Rom (Walnut Cr.) contains many precompiled
packages, that are easily to install using pkg_add. And additionally
a tree of "ported software" (sources).

FreeBSD 1.1.5.1 together with that CD works like a charm.

My intention is not to flame linux ... I only want to point
typical problems with linux ... If you are satisfied with one release,
don't expect, that the next is working better or more stable ...
It mostly contains a lot of new stuff - sometimes not well tested,
so expect new problems :-(
