I don't know if this is a name for an adaptec controller though but
I was phoning with a site today which wanted to have FreeBSD installed
and I asked them for their HW configuration. The guy said it was (from
the system startup log messages) a AH2840 VL.

I have the bad feeling that I will be out of luck installing FreeBSD on
that machine (or is there a gleam of hope?)
