I am afraid not.
I did it 2 weeks ago, and it has been working fine since then.

The only trick is,
to install binary distribution of 1.1R only and reboot it,
then get a 'virgin' src-dist/ loaded(don't leave anything else there.).
Get diff/ , UPGRADE.SH and run it,
then 'make world'. Reboot again and rebuild your new kernel from scratch.
If everything goes fine, you will get the new kernel.

good luck,
Franklin.
