I got a suggestion to try fdisk on the FreeBSD floppy. When I did
a fdisk -i /dev/sd0d (as suggested), it listed the partition
information correctly.

I also decided to take a chance and have it install even though
I was getting all the errors. When it lists the partitions, it
doesn't list the DOS partition (but fdisk does). Well, it still
gave me the /: write failed, file system is full, uid 0 on /:
file system full errors, but it appeared to have done something.
I rebooted the machine, copied the kernel, rebooted, rebooted, and
it comes up. Of course, the DOS partition was blown away. It's
still having problems. One was it was not seeing the original
partition, but fdisk had. Second, there was a bad super block on
the /usr file system that fsck couldn't correct. Finally when
I reinstalled DOS, the DOS fdisk had shown that FreeBSD only
installed itself in a 24 meg partition as opposed to the 535
I gave to it.

Has anyone else seen this? Is it hardware, software, or user
error? Help please.
