current USL attack...here's one more thing I hope doesn't get lost in the
shuffle:

I believe it's actually "AT&T and USL refused"; I recall this happening
before USL existed.  As I recall, this was discussed at USENIX BSD BoFs at
least as long ago as the BSD BoF in San Diego (1/89).  Anyone recall if it
was longer ago than that?
