You're right about the LSD. However, Berkeley is responsible for a much more potent mind-fuck drug, Angel Dust. Actually, it was two researchers working with corpses who discovered Angel Dust. Apparantly one of them touched the cadaver and then, by accident, touched his finger to his mouth without washing it. He started hallucinating rather quickly. After all the fuss died down, they got curious, to say the least, and started exploring what had happened. It turns out that an enbalmed body has a faint layer of dust that develops on it. That dust is the Angel Dust. HEnce the name "Angel Dust".
