I think this should be in the FAQ, it's too obvious for Unix veterans
but too hard for newcomers. ;)

Login as "root", no password necesary.  One of the first things you
should do after you get in is to set a root password, BTW.  Also make
an account for yourself, and do your work there.

We are talking about changing the install process in 2.0, to prompt
the user for the root password before throwing him off the cliff....
