FreeBSD only supports SCSI CDROMs, with one lovely exception:
The Mitsumi CDROM and interface. I grabbed the mitsumi (double
speed!) from a trade show for $128, including interface. I must
say, this drive is a gem. Cheap, functional, and i haven't had
a single problem with it. I also grabbed the latest Walnut Creek
FreeBSD 1.1R cdrom, but I'm finding that it's already dated-
Xfree is rev. 2.1 (current 2.1.1), and I'm finding that I want the
FreeBSD 1.1.5R. :-)

It works fantastic for getting your stuff up and running in the
minimal amount of time.

I've heard reports that the Mitsumi driver is extremely slow, but
I can't prove or disprove this- all I know is that I'm a happy
camper.
