Hmm, I've not looked at the code, but I've NEVER had these sorts of
problems and I've swapped to 3 disks. :-)

And, I've had valid partitions following all of my swap partitions.  I've
been running FreeBSD since well before 1.0 (*grin*) and I've never
had any swap problems.
