True, but so did earlier versions of FreeBSD.  There are enough better 
reasons to upgrade to 1.1.5 without throwing in this somewhat bogus one.

My guess is that the original poster hasn't added "pseudo-device ppp 1" to
the end of his kernel config file.  That'll cause the error he's seeing,
and it's easily remedied without installing a complete new release of his
OS.
