You _are_ talking about the SMC 3XXX series of cards, not the SMC 8XXX series
they inherited from Western Digital, right?

I'm pretty sure NetBSD supports the EISA variant of the SMC (ne\*' WD)
8003/8013/8216.  Is there some reason it wouldn't?
