Hello,

I just purchased BSD 1.0 on CDROM. On account of all the postings I read in this
newsgroup the system seems worthwhile an installation.

I use the Adaptec 1542c SCSI controller on my machine. It has a
sector translation feature which makes harddisks up to 8 gigs
look like a 255-head disk with less or equal than 1024 cylinders.
This enables it to boot OSes even if the boot data is stored "at the
end" of the storage area.

Adaptec says in the documentation that - if this feature is enabled - no
two operating systems may be installed on the disk. You are allowed to
run only DOS or any other OS on the disk, but not DOS and OS2 for example.

Can anybody tell me what is the reason for this limitation? I'd like to
install BSD and DOS on the same disk, using the sector translation
feature.

Thanks in advance, Tom.
