I got a couple of replies pointing me towards a paper that comes with
BSD and the printed version of the SunOS Networking Manual: Leffler,
Joy, Fabry and Karels: ``Networking Implementation Notes.''

I also was advised to look at the code of FreeBSD, NetBSD, 4.3 and 4.4
BSD.

Thanks for responding.

I furthermore got two advertisements, one of which I consider
especially rude. They offered Richard Stevens: ``UNIX Network
Programming'' and stated:

This covers networking in UNIX, with BSD coverage. There are no books
specifically covering what you want to do.
