REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION:

comp.windows.wine.announce (moderated)
comp.windows.wine.bugs (moderated (?))
comp.windows.wine.misc (unmoderated)

CHARTER:

Announcements, bug reports and discussion about Wine, a free MS-Windows API
emulator which will, once it is completed, enable Windows binaries to
run under X.

RATIONALE:

The goal of the Wine project is to write a complete emulation of the
MS-Windows API which will enable to run programs written for Windows to
run under any 386 - based Unix running X. All the Windows API calls should
be translated into Xlib calls and thus run in full 32-bit mode.

There is a large developer and interest base, currenty served by a
mailling list with more than 700 subscribers, some of which are
local mail exploders or news-to-mail gateways themselves.

MODERTATOR:

If no other moderator is found, Bob Amstadt (bob@amscons.com) is willing
to moderate the *.bugs and *.announce - groups.

DISCUSSION:

Discussion will take place in news.groups. It will determine wether
all three groups are needed at this time and whether the group names
are acceptable. This discussion period will last for 30 days after
the appearance of this article in news.announce.newgroups.

VOTE:

After the discussion period, a Call For Votes is expected if general
agreement has been reached.
