Does anyone fix this problem? I am annoyed by this problem. I cannot
load X11R5 sources from remote sparcstation.

I don't have a fix either, but I also think it's not a driver bug.
When loading megabytes of software from tape I try to do periodic syncs on
another VT and that seems to lessen the likelyhood of a hang. Also
when it does hang, I find that syncs are still getting through, so
that fsck rarely reports errors on the reboot (and thanks God for
that, fsck takes awhile and once is enough for my nerves).
