Dos will not boot from my first hardrive.

I have OS-BS version 2 beta 8.
DOS 5.0 in partition 0.
Linux in partition 1.
partition 2 is unused.
and FreeBSD in partition 3.

Is there any reason why DOS will not boot. If I replace it with OS/2 that partition boots. But, of course I don't have enough room to install all of
OS/2, so I need dos to work.
