Tell me something : your /usr is _not_ on a separate filesystem, isn't it ?

dump(8) is  working   at the inode   level so  you  can backup    only full
filesystems.   Partial tree backups  should be  made  with either tar(1) or
cpio(1).  The  only way to  dump partial  dumps with dump  is by specifying
date limits.
