Thank you for carefully reading the whole sentence.  It was a rather short
one, and I was sure that even Usenet couldn't screw it up, but I was once
again wrong.

The extra functionality ALL OTHER THINGS BEING EQUAL, never hurts.  Of
course any side effects may be harmful.  So just leave out the side
effects.  Geez.
