i read somewhere (newsgrp? manpage? howto? cant remember) that currently
linux cant use more than 16 meg of swap. but that was with slackware 1.1.2;
maybe new slackware 1.2.0 can. hope so anyway.

my swap is 15.5 megs and it's just fine.
