Try fvwm at spcot.sanders.com. It is very slick, fast and
memory efficient. It also provides a virtual desktop and a pretty
decent Motif emulation. It's the best window manager I've seen to date
and compiles pretty much right out of the box. A few simple changes to
the Imakefile, a xmkmf, and a make and it's done.
