Currently it takes me about 18 minutes to compile kernels (varying configs)
with FreeBSD-current, on a 486DX33 (ISA bus, Adaptec SCSI). The system
in question also acts as a print server, nfs server and has nnmaster running
on it as well (ie a bit of disk access every 20 mins or so) + interactive
users. I guess the difference between my 18 minutes and the 22 minutes
you mention is probably due to slightly different hardware or system load -
the times are very similar.
