It  is expected  since the  process used  by  the BIOS  for booting  is the
following :

1. if there is a drive configurated into the setup, it will be used to boot
   from,

2. if there isn't  then the BIOS  will give up  and let another  BIOS boot,
   typically a SCSI disk.

If you  install Julian's bootblock on  a  IDE/MFM/ESDI disk while  having a
SCSI interface, you will  be  able to  boot *BSD  from   the SCSI disk   by
specifying hd(0,0,0)/386bsd at the primary boot prompt.
