Last I heard, Marc Wandschneider and I were working on it. I installed the
FreeBSD patches for the driver (version 0.3???) and hand applied the couple
of pieces that didn't install on their own. It doesn't work yet, but I am
not sure if that is because of my drive, or if I am doing something wrong
(the latter would be my guess).

The -current version of FreeBSD seems to include QIC-40/80 support in their
native code. If you are desirous to use the drive now and don't owe a lot of
allegiance one way or another, you might want to wait and install the new
version of FreeBSD (out Real Soon Now (tm)).

If you (like me) are really masochistically attached to NetBSD, you can
grab the patches (I don't remember from where). and try and install it
yourself.

The device will configure (BTW) as ft0...
