If you are thinking of the technical problem, you are right-- it isn't
that hard.

But it is not a technical problem -- it is a political problem. It has
to do with individuals working in the various groups, the directions they
want the work to go, and certain attitudes and opinions they bring
with them.

Further, I will point out that the problem is not really "the fault" of
any individual-- it is a combination that does not work together.
[ i.e. various readers need not flame me -- no offense is intended. :) ]

To fully understand the problem, consider this hypothetical situation:
The one united BSD is coming, but to get it, *your* favorite feature has
to be replaced with something grossly inferior. What are you going to do?

Mark S.

p.s. You are not going to use a piece of junk when you can get the source
code for the better solution. Then you are going to give it away to other
people who agree with you, and the problem starts all over again...
