Brian,
  My ATI Graphics Ultra Pro works great.  There's also a handful of
other cards supported.  I don't know, but I assume you can use your
Viper in non-accelerated mode.  (wild guess, check first!!!)  My advice
to you would be to get the XFree86 distribution and read the text files
that pertain to configuration.  They list exactly what you need.  I'd
post them, but I'm not near my NetBSD machine.  g'luck
